GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) exam is a computer-based standardized test conducted by IISc and IITs at the national level in India to examine the understanding of respective engineering and science. Qualifying in the GATE exam is a mandatory requirement for all engineering graduates who are seeking admissions with financial assistance to the Postgraduate Programs like Master's and Doctoral with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and other Government Scholarships / Assistantships that are subject to the admission criteria’s of the institutes.

GATE Eligibility Criteria
A candidate who is currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program OR has already completed any government approved degree program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts is eligible for appearing in the GATE 2025 exam.

Marking Scheme	All of the questions will be of 1 mark or 2 marks
Negative Marking	For a wrong answer chosen in an MCQ, there will be negative marking. For a 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. For a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. There is no negative marking for wrong answer(s) to MSQ or NAT questions. There is no partial marking in MSQ.
